The Uncle I hope to be...

I will have to admit that I have some pretty great uncles. That being said...My Uncle Gary died yesterday. He was everything that I want to be in an uncle. I remember as a kid when we would visit the great "land of Lincoln" we would always get together as a family. There would always be a room of adults and a room where the kids where playing. More times then not, My uncle Gary would be in the room with the kids. When the kids got bored...Uncle Gary would always come up with something fun to do. Most of the time it had to do with making wooden toys with my Papaw's tools...I remember going with my Papaw to Uncle Gary and Aunt Robbie's house to "help" them re-shingle their roof. I can't remember how old I was but Uncle Gary gave me a roofing hammer, a hat, a nail pouch, and some nails and then he put me to work...Probably the first time I'd touched a hammer in my life...I also remember one time we were home for Christmas, my birthday is on the 28th and usually was blended into the Christmas holiday and sometimes I couldn't tell the difference between my b-day and Christmas. Well on this particular trip I remember My uncle Gary taking me to Wal-Mart on my birthday and telling me I could pick out whatever I wanted. He said I could get a game-boy and a game or anything like that. I was totally shocked. I walked through the toy section and didn't find anything I wanted. I did want the gameboy but on my way over I saw an orange football in the sporting goods section that I wanted more. So instead of getting the $100 game boy, I opted for a $14 football with my Uncle Gary trying to talk me out of it because he wanted to spend more on me...The last story I am going to blog about is the time that I got my leg stuck in my cousin Troy's three wheeler. Troy was driving and I was sitting in front. He made a sharp turn and my leg went into the wheel and was sucked into the spoke of the axle. I remember my Uncle Gary running over and then running to get the tools needed to take the tire off to get my leg out. I had a pretty good burn on my leg. The next day we had church and Uncle Gary noticed that my leg was bothering me. So he took me out of church (probably the first time in my life I got to leave church early) and took me to Eagles grocery store and got some medicine and bandages. Then he wrapped my leg up. Uncle Gary thanks for being a great uncle!

A little behind...

Last night we played a couple more. I also forgot to blog last week about the games. We are going through a rough streak winning just 1 of the last 4 games. Last night I couldn't hit worth a hoot. But in 4 games I went 5-11 with 4 singles and 1 double, I also had 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. I made a couple of throwing errors but I did throw out 2 runners at the plate. So I went 8 for 10 in the field...

So for those of you keeping track I am 25 for 42 on the year. Batting .595 with 17 singles, 3 doubles, 4 triples, 1 inside the park homerun, 0 out of the park homeruns, 3 walks, 15 RBI's, 21 runs, and 0 stolen bases. I am also 26 for 31 in the field with a fielding percentage of .839.

Totals since April 1st 2006 (not including 2008 tourney)-I am 187 for 295. Batting .634 with 133 singles, 28 doubles, 20 triples, 5 inside the park homeruns, 2 out of the park homerun, 10 walks, 111 RBI's, at least 128 runs, and 1 stolen base. I am also 215 of 237 in the field with a fielding percentage of .907.
